Just finished up midterm week! It was a bit crazy but it usually is since there are always two big assignments and a test all in the same week. I'm going to need to talk to my professors at some point though because no one has put any grades up so I have no idea how I'm doing in any of my classes...
But here are some of my projects I have done. For Principles of screen design we had to do a paper cutout animation, which is the kind of animation South Park is like. There are still some parts I would like to fix up but I'll probably do that over the summer since it probably took me about 48 hour of working to make this thing. I was originally going to do it on actual paper and I had a rig set up to capture it but it didn't end up working since I would have had to buy all kinds of expensive software to make it work so I just did it digitally.
The audio is from an audio reading from one of the Grimm Brother's fairy tails "The Golden Bird" but it is only a small excerpt since I didn't have time to animate the whole 8 minute story
Also had to make a Dinner table set of for my modeling class, we had to make all the models and texture it all in a week, which I really fought against since I wanted two weeks to make some really good quality models and textures since I think that is what I want to concentrate on, but I had no such luck. It's not quite portfolio ready yet, it still needs some more work. I plan to completely redo the chairs and make them a lot nicer.
I also went to Hong Kong Disney this last week! Which was a whole lot of fun! It was kind of weird because it was pretty much just a mini version of Magic Kingdom, Mostly all the rides they had were the same, they even had USA street at the entrance! Kristin and I decided to be total tourist and take tons of pictures and ride on all the rides we could.
Also saw the 5 year anniversary parade which was really nice! I hadn't seen a Disney parade in ages!
And that's about it for this week! Hope everyone had a lovely week! I miss everyone <3
I am a SCAD student who for 10 weeks I will be taking classes in Hong Kong. Here I will post what I'm up to, pictures of sights I see and art I create.

Busy Busy
Sorry for the lack up updates, school has really started to pick up and I've been bogged down with so much schoolwork lately that I haven't been able to go out all that much. I did go out today for two hours in search of construction paper for a cut out animation class but had no luck what so ever, I did somehow manage not to get lost wondering around by myself, which is good! I am really starting to get the lay of the land!
But as I have worked Katie and Chris went to the beach and Kristin went out to Macau with the school. I heard though that it is better to go with out teachers since what is big in Macau is the gambling so I think the plan is to head out there on our own at some point. I think Kristin got some good pictures of the more historical aspects that can be found; I might post them up later.
So I had another assignment due for Principles of scene design that we had to do twice the amount of frames as the last assignment, with an original idea, with the same amount of time; to say the least it was a bit of a challenge. I decided to go with a cut scene from a video game concept I came up with last quarter; in which two guys running one of those cheesy ghost hunting website go to a fort and perform a ritual which then summons a whole bunch of ghosts that they have to deal with. This scene is them getting to the fort and performing the ritual.
This is an areal shot of the fort that the Professor wanted me to put in, I'm not very fond of it :/
Panning down to wards the fort
The drawbridge
This is a view from behind the tree looking down as the characters walk toward it.
Gray guy is complaining to white about how stupid of an idea this is.
White guy is all like "chill out bro stop being such a baby!' or something along those lines :P
"we are already here" continues the white guy
Pulls out the summoning book
Reads and oh no all the ghosts come out!!!
I must admit I had the most fun drawing the last one!

Engrish
Nothing much going on the last couple days. We went to the peak on Tuesday which was really nice but definitely very touristy, everything was extremely expensive! I got on ice cream cone and it ended up being HK$35 where normally its only like HK$7. Katie (the groups ex photography major, since now it's her minor) took some sweet panoramic shots of the city but I haven't been able to get my hands on them yet, I will put them up when I do.
The last couple days have been pretty icky since I caught a cough that has been going around so I haven't really been in the mood to do anything. But since I have been in Hong Kong I have stumbled across so awesome cases of engrish!
Until next time, hepplness ferris whee!

Homework!
I had my first assignment due for Principles of Screen Design today! We had to get 5 frames from a movie and simplify it so that everything can be expressed with just two tones, black and white. It was an exercise to help us gain an understanding of the thought process that is used in developing a composition for a story board or scene. I of course chose Tangled since I have been reading the art book and proceeded to watch the movie two more times as I worked on my frames. (They look kind of weird small you should click them so that you can see it bigger)
I may go exploring more tomorrow since there is no school because of the Ching Ming Festival which is also known as the Grave-sweeping or Spring Remembrance. Ching Ming is when Chinese families show their respect by visiting the graves of their ancestors to clear away weeds, touch up gravestone inscriptions and make offerings of fruit and wine.
I really like this concept of visiting ancestors even if they lived long before you were even born. It is kind of a happy/morbid since even though people you have known in your life may no longer be here there are still those who care enough to visit your final resting place.
So on the happy note I end this post :P
Love you all!

Hot pot
I forgot to mention that after the museum SCAD had this cool hot pot thing in the parking lot for dinner. They had a whole bunch of tables all set up with big cooking pots in the middle with a whole bunch of raw meet, fish, and vegetable stuff. I think my favorite part was when Katie took out one of the shrimp on a stick and it suddenly did this violent twitch and everyone at our table freaked out! Except for Kristin of coarse, she immediately wanted to eat it! I, on the other hand stayed as far away from them as possible!
Hong Kong Heritage Museum
Friday I went to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum where the are having an exhibit that is honoring the 25 years of Pixar! It was super cool I sneaked some nice pictures too!
Doug from UP
This Wall-e is a 3D print which means that means some one made this in 3D on a computer and a printer printed it out in 3D. I'm not exactly sure how that works but it seems pretty awesome!
Unfortunatlly I couldn't spend the whole time at the Pixar exhibit since I had to pick a chinesse artifact to write a paper on in Art of China. I think by far the best artifact i found was this urinal from the Sixth Dynasty!
I don't think I'm going to use it for my paper though that would be quite silly!
Love you all! <3
